After all, we’re all sick of 18 months travel restrictions, etc. Sadly, summer has passed, and we are now in autumn, with winter slowly on the horizon (Where is 2021?).

Now is the perfect time to book your winter vacation in a sunny, warm country without quarantine or testing.

Here are the best options for Americans in winter 2021.

1. Mexico

While 99% of the world closed to Americans during the pandemic, Mexico has remained open to American travelers. Fast forward 18 months, and that hasn’t changed. American travelers can visit Mexico this winter without quarantine or test on arrival.

The most popular destination for American travelers is Cancun. Of course, this part of Mexico is iconic during spring break. However, Cancun is home to miles of pristine white sand beaches, majestic scuba diving sites, and first-class hotel infrastructure. There’s even an eclectic mix of mayan ruins scattered around the area.

There is no better way to escape those freezing winter mornings than a vacation to Puerto Vallarta. This beautiful Mexican city on the Pacific coast is home to world-class marine life, water sports, exceptional beaches and countless local beach resorts.

Los Cabos – otherwise known as Cabo San Lucas – is the perfect winter retreat. The resort town is home to Cabo San Lucas’ famous Arch, El Medano Beach, and Lovers Beach – all great options if you’re looking to get away from the beach this winter. But, of course, there is also superb nightlife in Los Cabos too.

2. Colombia

Colombia is fast becoming one of the most popular destinations for Americans in South America. And best of all, Americans can tour the country this winter with no quarantine or testing at all.

Medellin – often referred to as the City of Eternal Spring – is a very popular city for American travelers. The city is home to magnificent surrounding beauty, excellent cafes and great museums. The most popular museum is the Museo de Antioquia, an exhibition dedicated to Fernando Botero (Medellin’s most famous artist.)

Another great option is to visit Cartagena, a 16th century port town on the Caribbean coast. The city has a fantastic tropical climate, ideal for a winter vacation. In addition, the city is also close to the Isla de Barú. Travelers know this region for its incredible white sand beaches, palm trees and coral reefs.

A winter vacation in Colombia wouldn’t be over without a trip to Bogata, the vibrant capital of Colombia. The city is 8,860 feet above sea level, and exceptional hikes and views surround the city. Bogota is also home to over 10 million people, making it one of the largest cities in the world.

3. Costa Rica

Costa Rica is nothing less than a tropical paradise. The tiny nation is home to 5% of the world’s biodiversity and world-class surfing, jungle trekking, and natural beauty. More importantly, there is no quarantine or test on arrival This winter.

Puerto Viejo remains one of the main destinations in Costa Rica. Surfers love the amazing Salsa Brava surf spot, and the town is a beach paradise. The most popular beach is Playa Cocles, a great place to relax or learn to surf.

4. The Dominican Republic

The Dominican Republic is on as much as you can get those gloomy winter days. Nonetheless, the nation is famous for its outdoor adventures, wildlife, incredible beaches, great nightlife, majestic dives, and excellent colonial architecture. In addition to all this there is no quarantine or test on arrival this winter.

Punta cana sits on the easternmost tip of the Dominican Republic, offering over 20 miles of breathtaking coastline and crystal clear waters. It’s also a great place for travelers who enjoy ziplining, sailing, and windsurfing.

Santo Domingo is perhaps the most modern city in the Caribbean. Travelers learn about some of the world’s most exemplary Spanish colonial architecture, including the Catedral Primada de América and the Museo de las Casas Reales.

Puerto Plata, the third largest city in the Dominican Republic, is a great place to visit this winter. The city is well known for its superb beaches which stretch all over the coast.
