All Trailers & Concept Art Released So Far

The complex story of Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice attracted players through beautiful environments and emotional performances. His story was heartbreaking, a trait that is likely to continue with Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2. Promotional materials and concept art published for Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 showed off even more stunning visuals to continue Senua’s story, which are notable upgrades from the already gorgeous cinematic graphics used in the first game. The meticulous attention to detail shows the dedication that the Infernal Blade a, not only when it comes to telling well-developed stories about mental health, but also providing impressive visual support for exploring these topics.


First Infernal Blade game, the environment was key to the story and its gameplay. Traveling across the world and into the depths of Hel, Senua embarked on a perilous journey to retrieve something that could not be returned. Each section of the game amplified its story through the environments players had to traverse, tying the depth of the world to its equally important narrative. The darkness of Senua’s environment has become a powerful reminder of the loneliness she found herself in and the alien nature of the experience players have had throughout the story of Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice. While Hellblade 2 is an Xbox exclusive, Senua’s next chapter appears to benefit from new material, with an even trickier world in which her character will grow.

Trailers for Hellblade 2 continued to address these motifs, both in regards to the character of Senua, as well as the player. The Game Awards gameplay trailer in December 2021 uses many familiar audio cues that fans will recognize in the most tense and anxious parts of Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice; in a way that not only reinforces how fans feel, but also Senua’s character. This is coupled with gameplay that feels even smoother than its predecessor, while remaining grounded in the frigid and weathered environment of the North Atlantic, this time along the sculpted volcanic shores of Iceland.

As the new gameplay trailer tackles a behemoth in the heat of battle, older visuals set the stage for the atmosphere fans can expect. Hellblade 2. The trailer of Hellblade 2 from The Game Awards in 2019 is a cinematic experience that draws on the religious aspects of Senua’s story and her conflict with the gods. Even though the first game chronicles the futility of her mission, the second seems to pit her against enemies that are just as difficult to defeat.

At the same time, the lack of loneliness that comes into play when watching the trailers released for Hellblade 2 begins to frame a story that, while similar, may be fundamentally different. First Infernal Blade, visions of the past aside, Senua’s journey is one she struggles with on her own. There are no allies the player can rely on, and the story that is told is about Senua, her life and her struggle.

For Hellblade 2, however, it looks like players will have more support from the other characters present. Whether this will translate directly into NPC allies the player can call upon, or whether they’re just the preface to more loss and hardship in Senua’s life, remains to be seen.

Alongside its trailers, Infernal Blade 2 has also released a handful of images relating to concept art and character modeling. This is where fans of the series can see just how Infernal Blade has grown in both scope and visual design. The graphics have become more faithful overall, but the final blow is in the effects and character art. Face paint and dirt from the surrounding environment appear to stick to Senua’s face in stills from studio references aided by Hellblade 2using Unreal Engine 5.

Environmental art has a similar effect, taking the misty, beautiful coastlines of Iceland that can be seen today, and plunging them into an icy storm where they are scarred by forces both natural and supernatural.
