Concept Art for Odin in God of War Ragnarok Surfaces
God of War Ragnarok is practically just around the corner with a November 9, 2022 release date and with that there is a lot of information regarding the game being revealed and still some not being disclosed like concept art for Odin in God of War Ragnarok. The game is said to improve upon the original formula and introduce more verticality to its gameplay, very similar to what we saw in the original hack-n-slash God of War franchise.
This time, Santa Monica Studios revealed the character designs and concept art for Odin in God of War Ragnarok, and it’s not what you expect it to be!
God of War on PS4 took the visuals of the series one step further despite the console’s relatively weak hardware for its time and gave us graphical fidelity, exciting gameplay and a story that was a true successor to the original God of War Trilogy.
Leaked concept art of Odin in God of War Ragnarok
The next entry in the lineup has finally given us a look at character design and concept art for the Allfather, Odin, in God of War Ragnarok. The concept art for Odin was recently leaked online.
One of the main interesting aspects of God of War Ragnarok is that the game now introduces us to mythical Norse gods and characters previously mentioned but not introduced in God of War for the PS4.
This may have been done to build hype for the sequel to God of War’s latest entry. The father of Norse mythology, Odin, was referenced several times in God of War for the PS4, but we never really got to see him. The same could be said for Thor, god of thunderwhich we only got to see for a brief second in God of War’s secret rear end cinematic for the PS4.
We got a lot of teasing from the artistic director for god of war, Raf Grassetti, quite early in the year as he indicated that Odin’s character designs and concept art are going to be pretty special, but players and fans will be the judges of that. This led to a lot of speculation and theories about what the final concept art and rendering of Odin for God of War Ragnarok would look like.
A big thank you to aesthetic golemwhich also bears the name Twilight Golemmaybe we just got our first glimpse to the Allfather himself with leaked concept art, by the way. Aesthetic Golem took to the Reddit page, r/GamingLeaksandRumours to share his discovery or his supposed troll on the internet. Take this as a warning if you don’t want to spoil yourself with what is claimed to be the final build and concept art of Odin for God of War Ragnarok.

It’s quite difficult to distinguish the concept art of Odin with the low resolution image and with the words “Dusk Golem Was Here” splashed across the front of the image. But it’s still a leak, by the way. The image shows what appears to be a fairly old and weathered man who has had a tough time over the years. We don’t know if he’s a troll, since he plastered his nickname on the photo. But the many user upvotes on the page tell a different story.
At first glance, Odin for God of War Ragnarok seems like a formidable and intimidating character with his bright orange eye, but at the same time, Odin looks like a tired old man who’s seen better days. He also appears to be covered in dust, which shouldn’t be the case for a mighty Norse god. It seems that Odin looks a bit like the characters Baldur and Tire.
He doesn’t appear to be wearing the hat he’s seen boasting on top of his skull, as we’ve observed in the murals dedicated to him in God of War for the PS4. He lives up to his legacy of being the “one-eyed Allfather”, as he lacks an eye in supposed concept art.
Whether or not this concept art is an accurate leak is up to speculation. Some fans believe this is indeed what Odin will look like in the upcoming God of War Ragnarok, while some fans consider it a sham.
Either way, the leaked concept art continues the hype for Odin in God of War Ragnarok, as fans are now excited to see if the leak is an actual concept art depiction of Odin, the Allfather, in the final version of the game.
Considering that Odin will be one of the strongest opponents Kratos will face in the God of War series, it seems quite surprising that he is presented as a withered and tired old man. This is contrary to the direction Santa Monica Studios took in the early years of God of War, where players faced off against the mighty and mighty Zeus or the the immortal Baldur.
One thing that’s unclear in the leaked concept art is Odin’s size in God of War Ragnarok. He could be quite tall, or he could make up for his stature with the powers, legend, and dialogue surrounding him, as discussed in God of War for the PS4.
God of War Ragnarok is releasing very soon on PS4 and with overhauled visuals, resolution and graphical fidelity for the PS5 on November 9, 2022.
