CVS will require full vaccination for some employees
Following full approval by the Food and Drug Administration of the two-dose Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, CVS announced earlier this week that it would require full COVID-19 vaccinations for some of its employees.
According to MassLive, CVS Health will require all pharmacists, nurses and other employees who deal with patients, as well as all company staff, to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by the end of October.
CVS Health Corp. has partnered with other public and private employers, including Disney, Chevron and Goldman Sachs, to demand that workers be fully immunized. And you can bet the list will grow even longer.
CVS has not mince words and has been very clear. Current employees who interact with the public in any way and all company staff have until October 31 to be fully immunized. New hires are advised to get their first shot before joining the job. Pharmacists will have until November 30 to be fully immunized due to the size of this employee population.
Karen Lynch, President and CEO of CVS Health, said in a press release:
Since the start of the pandemic, our decision-making process has been guided by health, safety and science. While the vast majority of our employees have chosen to be vaccinated, this decision is in direct response to the dramatic increase in cases among the unvaccinated.
Earlier this month, CVS Health had already announced that employees at its construction sites were required to wear some form of face covering, regardless of their vaccination status. To learn more about the story, visit the MassLive website here.
