Gunman shoots two workers at auto repair shop in Yorkville garage, killing one
East Harlem detectives are looking for the gunman who shot two workers, killing one, at a Yorkville garage Monday morning.
Police said the male victims were injured around 9:30 a.m. inside the NYC Auto Inc. vehicle repair shop at 324 East 95th St.
Police sources said the two workers, aged 33 and 43, were inside the store when the gunman entered the repair shop, took aim and opened fire.
Sources said the victims had an argument with the suspect before the shooting; it is not clear, at this stage of the current investigation, what spurred the initial argument.
Authorities said the suspect shot the 33-year-old man in the head and shoulder and shot him in the back.
After the gunfire, cops reported, the gunman exited the garage and then fled inside a blue SUV last seen heading north along First Avenue.
The officers of the 19th arrondissement found the victims moments later when answering a 911 call regarding the ongoing assault. Emergency units transported the victims to New York Presbyterian Hospital, where the 33-year-old man died of his injuries.
The police withheld the identity of the victim, pending notification of the family.
The 43-year-old victim remains hospitalized in stable condition, the NYPD reported.
Police sources said the unidentified gunman was last seen wearing a black hoodie and black sweatpants.
