Two Little Egg Harbor businesses – Mystic Academy of Wellbeing and Leah Morgan Art Works – are teaming up to bring the community together for a day of physical and mental healing followed by a dive into creativity. The Art + Yoga workshop will take place at the Leah Morgan Art Works studio, located at 249 Great Bay Blvd. #5, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 22.
First, Camilo Calderon, owner and practitioner of the Mystic Academy of Wellbeing, will lead a five-minute meditation followed by five minutes of breathing to relax the body. A vinyasa class for all levels will follow.
“To tap into our imagination to create, we embody our field of consciousness,” writes Calderon. “When we draw attention to our senses, our ability to perceive is heightened.”
Participants should bring their own mats and blankets, as well as food and drink for the day.
After working on the breath and the body, Leah Morgan will lead an acrylic painting exercise, focusing on painting from observation. Basic still life concepts will be covered, such as composition, underpainting, color palette, and mixing primary colors. All skill levels are welcome and all art supplies are included, but attendees may want to bring their own supplies and/or simple objects for a more individual still life subject.
Seating is limited and the cost to attend is $52. Participants must be at least 16 years old and register in advance on tickettailor.com/events/leahmorganartworks/542863/#. —MMD
