Louisiana Department of Health, Where Y’Art Works, Hosts Creative COVID-19 Vaccine Event Featuring Louisiana Artists Illustrating What It Means To “Bring Louisiana Back”
Xavier University and Ochsner Health will administer COVID-19 vaccines, conduct BMI and blood pressure tests, and distribute nutrition and cancer awareness information. Vaccines and COVID-19 boosters will be available for everyone 12 years and older.
Bring Back Louisiana is the name of LDH’s COVID-19 vaccine education campaign – a statewide effort to ensure everyone has the opportunity to get vaccinated so we can back to all the things we love about Louisiana.
“As we emerge from COVID-19 crisis mode, we are committed to ensuring residents know the importance of staying up to date on their vaccines, while celebrating the rich and diverse cultures of our state,” said Region 1 (New Orleans) Medical Director Dr. Shantel Hebert-Magee. “This event is another example of our continued commitment to meeting people where they are.”
“Our creative communities across the state have taken a hit over the past two and a half years. But we need art in times of crisis – to communicate, inspire and bring people and ideas together. that makes partnerships like ours with the Bring Back Louisiana campaign so important,” said Cat Todd, co-founder and creative director of Where Y’Art Works.
The CDC and LDH recommend that anyone 6 months and older get vaccinated and that anyone 12 and older get a booster as soon as they are eligible.
