Slow down, move: Bob Douthit Auto extends its services to contribute to road safety | KAMR
AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR / KCIT) – Recently Bob Douthit Auto showcased their latest service addition, Bob Douthit Auto Upfitters.
“We are starting a new emergency lighting, security, road safety fitting company like the Guardian Angel Light,” said Kasey Garrison, demolition manager at Bob Douthit Auto.
The original company, Bob Douthit Auto, has been in existence and providing services to the surrounding community for over 50 years now.
“Bob Douthit was my stepfather. He started the business in 1967 and it has grown steadily since then, ”said Managing Director Rick Garrison.
The idea to create Bob Douthit Auto Upfitters came in the hopes of improving safety on the roads, while saving other families from experiencing the loss of a loved one.
Kasey Garrison said: “My grandfather was killed about 20 years ago by a drunk driver. We were hooking up a coach on the side of the road, and they came over and wedged it between the truck and the motorhome.
The Director General added: “Our men who [are] working by the side of the road, you have to see them when it’s dark. They have to be seen and that’s part of why we want to do it.
The garrisons also mentioned that they appreciated the Move Over Act.
This law requires all Texas drivers to change lanes, if possible, when approaching an emergency vehicle parked on the shoulder with lights on.
Bob Douthit Auto is located at 1432 S. Barnes in Pampa, Texas.
