Spoken Word audio report to debut on November 11

NPR and Edison Research

The share of Americans listening to spoken audio is steadily increasing. In its third year, The Spoken Word Audio Report by NPR and Edison Research documents how the audio listening share of news, podcasts, audiobooks and talk radio is at an all-time high as young listeners and diverse listeners consume spoken content at higher rates than ever before. This year, NPR and Edison Research are exploring the listening preferences and motivations of consumers of spoken audio.

NPR VP / Sponsorship Marketing Join Lamar Johnson and Edison Research Vice President Megan Lazovick will present for a live webinar the findings of the third annual Spoken Word Audio report on Thursday, November 11 at 2 p.m. ET.

Information presented during the webinar includes:

  • How Spoken Word’s audio share has grown over the past year
  • Which demographic groups are driving the increase in listening and how their listening compares to that of other listeners
  • How listeners discover spoken audio
  • To what extent can the increase in spoken audio listening be attributed to the popularity of podcasts
  • Excerpts from in-depth interviews with young and diverse listeners highlighting the type of content that resonates most with them
