JAMMU, August 13: Paintings by internationally acclaimed artist Suman Gupta have been included in a major group exhibition at the Nvya Gallery.
The exhibition titled THREADSUNS, curated by independent curator Shristi Sainani, will premiere on August 18 at Nvya Gallery’s major space in Square One Designer arcades, Saket, New Delhi.
The exhibition includes works by major contemporary and upcoming Indian artists who have worked and experimented regularly in their respective contemporary and traditional medium and style.
Suman Gupta is an Indian magic realist with a modernist outlook. He is a serious and research-oriented painter with his objective reality and each new work explores the hidden reality with consistency and conviction as an underlying moral current.
In his work, The Magic Flute, through an uncompromising study of his subject, he imbued the commonplace with an extraordinarily haunting quality, as evidenced by his stunning portrayal of light and shadow – both brilliant and subdued, ethereal and fleeting and palpable.
